How to Choose a Lithium Battery for Wearable Devices?

2022-03-10

Lithium batteries for wearable devices have the following advantages.

1. High operating voltage of 3.6-3.8V for a single cell.

2. High battery capacity, the actual specific energy that can be achieved at present is 100-115Wh/kg and 240-253Wh/L (2 times NI-Cd,1.5 times than Ni-MH), in the future, with the development of technology, the specific energy can be as high as 150wh/kg and 400wh/l.
Product electrical appliances, the long service life of the battery will also increase the competitiveness of the product.

4. Good safety performance, no pollution, no memory effect, as the predecessor of lithium batteries, lithium metal is prone to the formation of dendrites short circuit, reducing its application areas: lithium batteries do not contain cadmium, lead, mercury and other elements that pollute the environment; part of the process of Ni-Cd batteries have a major drawback for the memory effect, a serious bundle of battery use, but lithium batteries simply do not have this aspect of the problem.

5. Self-discharge is very small, the self-discharge rate of a fully charged lithium battery at room temperature is about 10% after 1 month of storage, which is much lower than the 25-30% of Ni-Cd and 30-35% of Ni and MH.
